Media5 lends its expertise towards the past, present and future of VoIP

Media5 Corporation, a leading developer of advanced VoIP technologies and services, announced today that Media5 Corporation’s General Manager Philippe Babin was recently spotlighted in an article by Erin Harrison for Internet Telephony Magazine entitled “The Decade of VoIP”.

The article focuses on the first decade of the 21st century as a turning point for telecommunications in particular the turbulent adoption of VoIP as a viable tool for communications. “I am calling this the decade of VoIP, but really there were many times when they were calling for the death of VoIP,” said Erin Harrison TMCnet Senior Editor

“VoIP will be a significant catalyst for a change in the way that service providers, enterprises and consumers use communications. VoIP takes on different names and forms:  be it IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystems) for service providers looking to voice, video, wireless and IP systems around SIP or Unified Communications in the enterprise world,” explained Philippe Babin, General Manager, Media5 Corporation. “We have not reached market saturation anywhere in the world. The current economic slowdown has had little effect on the VoIP market. A recent report showed that in the enterprise segment, VoIP users had continued to rise to over 28% in 2008 and it is expected to be over 50% by 2012.”

Media5 Corporation, a leading developer of advanced VoIP technologies and services, announced today that EsSalud Health Services in Peru has selected the Mediatrix VoIP gateways to be implemented into over 360 healthcare facilities throughout Peru, creating the largest VoIP deployment in a healthcare environment for all of Latin America.

Deployed in association with Media5 Corporation’s channel partner SUMTEC Peru, and with integration from IBM, the Media5 solution for EsSalud Health Services consists of integrating one Mediatrix 4124 with 25 Mediatrix 4102s per selected healthcare. In addition, Mediatrix 3000 Series and Mediatrix 1204s will also be integrated into approximately ten percent of the hospital deployments. This will enable secure and survivable VoIP communications for EsSalud Health Services, connecting all 360 healthcare facilities throughout Peru under a single unified communications infrastructure.

“Improving interactions between administrators, medical staff as well as patients through unified communications enhances patient care and helps reducing operational costs,” explained Jorge Lay Castro, Commercial Manager at SUMTEC Peru.

There will be 96 hospital installations in 2009 and the remaining 264 will take place in 2010. Once fully implemented, the users in all locations will benefit from a common infrastructure facilitating more sophisticated internal communications which improves collaboration and productivity.

“In today’s healthcare environment, deployment of technologies like VoIP and unified communications need to ensure that survivability and security are top considerations to ensure that the highest quality of care isn’t compromised,” explained Philippe Babin, General Manager of Media5. “Mediatrix VoIP Gateways provide EsSalud Health Services a solution that offers exceptional technology to meet its needs today and offers one of the industries most advanced feature sets for its requirements in the future.”
