Media5 donates to Sherbrooke to fight the pandemic

Fundraising for Moisson Estrie

All around the world, the Covid-19 crisis is raising new challenges for companies and individuals. Conscious that we are living difficult times, Media5 has donated a modest $950 in a gesture of solidarity to help our community.

Through Moisson Estrie, restaurant owners have joined the « Sherbrooke unie contre la Pandémie » campaign to collect funds in order to prepare thousands of ready-to-eat meals. The campaign aims at offering nutritive hot meals to those needing it the most, and to allow restaurants to remain in operation.

Mr Daniel Bergeron, Media5 President and Chief Operating Officer, explains why he supports the Moisson Estrie campaign, « If there is something to learn from these troubling times, it is that we must take care and support the people around us. The situation worries me. We are aware and concerned that many families face, in silence, malnutrition situations, and that food assistance is vital to them. An organisation such as Moisson Estrie plays an essential role in our community, and the initiative in Sherbrooke against the pandemic deserves to be promoted and supported because restaurants will have their people back to work, as well as feeding thousands. »

The Moisson Estrie general manager, Mrs Geneviève Côté, mentions on the organisations’ website:  “Food banks receive great amounts of donations during the Holliday season but our stocks run out as summer approaches”. With school closures, layoffs and people being isolated to avoid the propagation of the coronavirus, requests for food aid have increased considerably.
